BMW Parking Lot Door Dent Done with Paintless Dent Removal
2022 BMW X6 Door Ding
I recently completed this door dent repair on a 2020 BMW X6.
The dent, measuring approximately 1.5 to 2 inches in size, was likely caused by another vehicle’s door impacting the rear door of the BMW in a parking lot. This type of damage is common in crowded parking spots where space is limited.
Several factors can contribute to the complexity and duration of the repair process when addressing a dent using paintless dent repair. One significant challenge is that the panel in question is made of aluminum, which is generally more difficult to repair than standard steel panels commonly found on BMW vehicles.
Additionally, the location of the dent presents another challenge. In this case, the dent is situated on the front edge of the rear door, an area that typically offers limited access to the back of the panel due to the folded design of the door’s edge. These factors can result in a more time-consuming repair process.
This Repair Cost Totaled $260
Time to Repair was up to 2 Hours
Paintless Dent Removal Process for This Door Ding Damage
Due to the limited access to the dent, I used the process of glue pulling to gradually lift the dent. This technique facilitates increased access to the area behind the dent, making it easier to use Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) tools. Additionally, it helps to reduce the number of times I need to address the minor low spots associated with the dent.
Since this repair was done during the month of December here in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, the outside temps were well below freezing. While this paintless dent repair was done inside our Blaine Dent Shop, it still required the use of heat to help keep the panel warm while it was being worked on. This helps make the paint and aluminum easier to manipulate with PDR.
If you are wondering what paintless dent removal like this may cost, then taking the size of the dent along with the other factors, a similar dent may range in cost from $195-$375 and take on average 1-3 hours to repair by a quality dent removal technician.
